Hoops: Canes D makes stand for win

The Hurricanes got back on the winning side of things after dropping back-to-back games by defeating Cal State Fullerton Friday.

Miami used some of its best defensive play of the season, a trademark of last year's team, to get back on the winning side of things. They held CSF to just 35-percent from the floor and the 46 points was the lowest amount scored against the Canes so far this season.

Rion Brown scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds in this game, as his hot streak continues. James Kelly logged a lot of minutes and made the most of it, scoring 10 points and grabbing seven boards.

Michael Williams and Sheldon Blackwell were the two most impressive performers for CSF, scoring 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Kelly got the start in this game and he was joined by Brown, Garrius Adams, Donnavan Kirk, and Davon Reed in the starting lineup for the Hurricanes.

The 4-3 Hurricanes are now set to take on Arizona State on Sunday.
