Hoops: Canes cruise to big win

After dropping its ACC opener to Virginia Tech on Sunday, the Canes rebounded with a big non-conference win on Thursday night.

Savannah State was no match for the Hurricanes in this game. Miami jumped out to a 17-point halftime lead and put things in cruise control throughout the second half to win the game by the score of 68-51.

Donnavan Kirk, who hasn't been as hot lately as he was early in the season, was Miami's top performer on the night with 15 points and nine rebounds. Rion Brown (13 points), Garrius Adams (12), and Manu Lecomte (10) were also in double digit scoring for the Hurricanes in this game.

Jeremiah Hill's 14 points for SSU was their best performance. SSU made just five shots from beyond the three-point line in this game and simply couldn't match up with the Canes inside.

Kirk, Brown, Adams, Lecomte, and Davon Reed were the five starters for the Hurricanes in this game.

Miami (6-5/0-1) will return home this coming Sunday for another non-conference game against La Salle.
