Hoops: Canes win second straight

The Hurricanes have now won two straight non-conference games after dropping its conference opener to Virginia Tech last week.

Miami jumped out to a 10-point lead at halftime in this game and then cruised to extend the lead even more in the second half. The Hurricanes used 48-percent shooting to win the game by the score of 71-58.

Rion Brown turned in the top performance for the Hurricanes, scoring 17 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Garrius Adams was next in line with 13 points and three boards. He also had two steals on the day.

Tyreek Duren led La Salle offensively with 18 points. Steve Zach played a big role for them as well, adding 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Brown, Adams, Donnavan Kirk, Davon Reed, and Manu Lecomte were the five starters for the Hurricanes in this game.

Miami (7-5/0-1) will take the next seven days off before returning to the court against Loyola next Monday at home.
