Canes offer Cali TE

The Hurricanes extended a new tight end offer on Wednesday. Read on to learn more about him as a prospect and what Miami's chances are early on.

Tyler Petite from Campolindo HS in Moraga, Calif. told Scout's Greg Biggins Wednesday that Miami has offered.

6-foot-5/225 pounds

His team went 11-1 this past season. He finished the season with 24 catches for 491 yards and nine touchdowns. He was the No. 2 option, especially down inside the redzone.

He's a tight end who plays in-line, and isn't just always flanked out wide. Typically those kids come into college with a better understanding of various blocking schemes in the running game.

He's a high academic kid, as some of his offers include Duke and Northwestern. Arizona State, Colorado, and Cal were his first three offers out West so he's being recruited like a solid three-star kid right now.

He says he grew up following Cal and they were his first offer so they're the school to keep an eye on the most as of right now.

His interest in UM likely won't be determined until he's able to make it out there for a visit at some point.

The Canes will likely sign two tight ends in the 2015 class, and Petite is now someone on the board to keep an eye on.
