SEC offer for Haney

Recently, T.J. Haney was offered by Vanderbilt. The 2015 Gaffney (S.C.) offensive tackle spoke with about his recruitment, future and more.

T.J. Haney got an offer he had been waiting for last week.

"Vanderbilt offered me recently," said the 6-foot-6, 315-pound Haney. "It feels great because Vanderbilt has been my dream school for a while.

"I love that it has a great combination of big-time football in the SEC and a great education."

Along with Vanderbilt, Haney holds offers from Marshall and UNC-Charlotte. The Gaffney standout is also hearing from Wake Forest and South Carolina.

His most recent visit was last weekend to Vanderbilt and he will hit the road again in a few days.

"I'm going to Wake Forest on Saturday," Haney said. "I'm excited about the visit. They have a new staff and they're excited about my film. I think they could offer soon."

Following his visit Wake Forest, Haney will head to South Carolina on March 29. He also mentioned making a return trip to Vanderbilt next month.

Although Haney is in no hurry to make a decision, he admitted that one school has made an early impression.

"Vanderbilt is sticking out," he said. "Right now, they're No.1 on my list. It's the combination of academics and athletics – you can't beat that.

"I have a 4.0 GPA, so academics mean a lot to me and they have my major – engineering."

Haney has an idea of when he will make his commitment.

"I'm going to try to commit before the season," he said. "I'm not going to narrow my list of schools down. I'm just going to make my decision."
