Canes offer elite DB on visit

This elite defensive back prospect was once committed to another ACC program. After visiting Miami earlier this week, he now owns a Cane offer. Read on to learn more about him and what Miami's chances are.

CB Marcus Lewis from Gonzaga HS in Washington, DC told Scout the Canes offered him on a visit to the school earlier this week.

6-1/180 who plays both CB and safety at the H.S. level. A lot of schools, including Miami, are recruiting him to play cornerback at the college level.

He actually made a commitment last November to Virginia Tech but backed off that decision several weeks later.

Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Clemson, Michigan, FSU, and Florida are just some of the other schools who have offered so he's being recruited nationally and by just about everyone.

His visit to the school earlier this week indicates some interest in Miami but he's also checking out schools like FSU and Florida while in state so it wasn't just a trip to Miami. The Canes actually offered very late compared to most, which might hurt them a bit. Then again, he did visit here without an offer in hand so he definitely has some interest in the Canes.

He's an elite player to keep an eye on and in an area where Golden and his staff has some ties so we'll continue to monitor his progress.
