UM offer shakes things up for Cali DE

This standout defensive end prospect had his list cut down to three until Miami offered him a few days ago. Read on to learn more about him and what Miami's chances are.

DE Trent Goens from Chino Hills, Calif told Scout that Miami offered him earlier this week.

He's a high energy, strong, tough kid who can really mix it up. He changes directions really well in space as well. He has some solid pass rushing skills.

His team finished 7-4 last season and he started on both sides of the ball. He caught 7 passes for 92 yards on a team that doesn't throw it a whole lot. As a D-End, he had 62 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and one caused fumble.

Everyone is recruiting him on defense.

Arizona, Cal, Colorado, Washington, and Northwestern were some of his earlier offers so he's being recruited regionally and like a 3-star player. He recently cut his list down to Washington, Cal, and NW but after Miami offered he told Scout that he plans to visit here this summer. Until that happens, Miami's probably considered a longshot. The visit will be very important in determining Miami's chances.
