Jags take Linder in 3rd round

Former Miami offensive lineman Brandon Linder became the first Hurricane taken in the 2014 Draft when the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him in the third round.

Brandon Linder was drafted by Jacksonville with the 93rd overall pick on Friday night. He becomes the first Hurricane ever selected by the Jags. He is also Miami's highest drafted offensive lineman since Denver selected Orlando Franklin in the second round back in 2011.

Linder, a former five-star recruit from St. Thomas Aquinas High, started 42 games during his four-year career at Miami. He started each of Miami's last 37 games.

At 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds, Linder has starting experience at both right guard and right tackle but projects as a guard at the pro level.

After being an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection by the coaches in 2012, Linder was a 2nd team pick following his senior season in 2013.

Linder was Miami's first player drafted in 2014. He has a younger brother, Nick, who inked with the Hurricanes as part of their 2014 Recruiting Class.
