Canes offer 6-foot-5 Kentucky commit

The Hurricanes made a recent offer to a 6-foot-5 wide receiver who has already committed to Kentucky. Read on to learn more about him as a prospect and what Miami's chances are.

Alex Stump from St Edward High in Lakewood, Ohio says the Hurricanes offered him a few days ago.

He stands 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds

He's another big receiver the Hurricanes are targeting. It's very clear they want big receivers, and Stump has tremendous size. He's certainly athletic enough, however, to stay at WR (and not grow into a college TE down the road).

In his junior campaign, Stump hauled in 57 receptions for 987 yards and 14 touchdowns for the 11-2 Eagles.

He committed to Kentucky earlier this spring. Some of his other BCS offers were from Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, and West Virginia before the Hurricanes came through recently. He's being recruited like a 3-star prospect.

His early commitment to Kentucky will make the Wildcats tough to beat but Miami definitely put itself in the mix. The key will be getting him down on campus at some point, especially since he's never been. It's not like the Canes are trying to flip him away from Ohio State or Notre Dame. They can remain in the mix if they continue actively recruiting him.
