"My visit was great like the other times," McGriff told Inside the Auburn Tigers. "On this one I got to see the fun side of Auburn and I loved everything.
"The Big Cat Weekend was a lot of fun and it was competitive, too, with all the games, but the main thing was that everybody had a lot of fun," he noted. "At the end we all came together."
A four-star prospect from Leon High School, McGriff committed to the Tigers over hometown FSU, Florida, South Carolina and others on April 22nd. At 6-3, 225 pounds with excellent speed, McGriff said he feels like he will be a good fit in Auburn's offense where he can line up as a receiver and as a "wildcat" quarterback.
He noted that the Big Cat Weekend was more focused on fun and games than football talk like on his previous visitis. Asked what his favorite event was, he said, "I would have to say it was the watermelon eating contest because I actually placed first in it." He also said the water balloon battle was a lot of fun.
D'Anfernee McGriffMcGriff took advantage of the opportunity to get to know other prospects who are also committed to Auburn and ones that he would like to join him on the Plains. "I liked meeting the other prospects and I got to do a little recruiting," he said, noting that he believes other prospects at the event had a good time.
"For some of them it might have been their first time at Auburn," he said. "I think Auburn really set it off for them."
McGriff noted that this summer he is going to focus on working out. "I am trying to slim up a little bit," he said. "Also, I am probably going to come back to Auburn for a camp."
