June Offer Board: WRs

The Hurricanes signed a handful of wide receivers in the 2014 class, which means this position won't be a major priority in 2015. They still want a few real good ones. One is already committed, and they're working on several others. Read on for the latest because we have all the latest here!

The Canes have one commitment and it's from Emonee Spence. At 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, the Flanagan High standout committed a few months ago. He also has offers from schools like Auburn, Cincinnati, USF, Illinois, UCF, and Purdue but is solidly committed to the Canes, and will give them another big outside target.

(note: The rest of the players on this list are those I believe with commitable offers, and they're listed in order of their ranking on Scout)

George Campbell -- At 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds, Campbell is the state's most heavily recruited receiver right now. The Tarpon Springs High standout was once committed to Michigan and told Scout that six schools are recruiting him harder than the rest, and Miami wasn't on that list. It seems like a longshot here.

Tyron Johnson -- At 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, this New Orleans native is being recruited nationally. LSU is all over him but he actually told Scout recently that Texas Tech is his top choice. It looks like they have the best chance of pulling him outside of his home state. He's also seen Auburn. Miami doesn't seem to be a major player.

Carlos Strickland -- At 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, Strickland is a 4-star prospect from the state of Texas but interestingly doesn't have offers from schools like Texas A&M and Oklahoma yet. Miami is on him and he's expressed some interest but until he visits here he has to be considered a longshot.

John Burt -- At 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds, Burt is the most heavily recruited receiver in the Florida Panhandle this year. The Lincoln High standout has already been to schools like Miami, LSU, FSU, Texas, Auburn, and Alabama so he's getting around. It'll be very difficult pulling him away from FSU since he's right in their backyard and has been made a priority by the Noles.

Da'vante Phillips - At 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, Phillips is widely considered the top WR prospect in South Florida this year. The Miami Central standout was once committed to Florida but is now open. He visited Auburn recently, and has been to Miami. The Canes are right in the mix here.

Jayson Stanley -- At 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, Stanley is one of the top WR prospects in the state of Georgia. Miami offered recently, and he said he'd try getting down to learn more about the school. He's been to UGA and Auburn, and they seem to have the early edge on everyone else.

Devante Peete -- At 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, Peete is originally from Ely High but transferred to St. Thomas Aquinas after the season. He has four-star type offers and recently named a top five to Scout that included Miami. He's been on campus before and the Canes are very much in the running here.

Irvin Charles -- At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, Charles is being recruited like the top WR prospect in New Jersey. He has four-star type offers and recently cut his list down to seven. That list included Miami, who is trying to get him down on a visit this summer. The Canes landed David Njoku from there last year, and their connections in the area will certainly help.

Christian Philpott -- At 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, he plays at North Florida Christian High in Tallahassee. Unlike Burt, however, Philpott isn't being actively recruited by FSU right now so everyone's chances are better. He has three-star type offers, and Miami made theirs recently. He has some interest, and is trying to get down here on a visit at some point this summer.

Auden Tate -- At 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, Tate grew up in South Carolina but moved to the Tampa area recently. He says Michigan has always been his top choice. He says he is very interested in Clemson and South Carolina, but also put Miami in his top four recently. The Canes are in the mix but it won't be easy.
