Canes offer local speedster

One of the state's fastest prospects earned an offer following a strong camp performance this past weekend. Read on to learn more about him, and what Miami's chances are.

Antonio Howard from Miami Norland High says the Canes offered him this week.

5-foot-11 and 165 pounds

Combine (Step It Up) numbers from the spring:
4.32/40 (fastest time they recorded this spring)
33-inch vert

He absolutely flies. He can run with anyone, and will be able to at the next level. He's a hair under 5-foot-11 so it's an excellent combination of size, speed, and athleticism.

He played his junior season at Jackson High but is now at Norland.

He first committed to FIU back in the spring but then started collecting BCS level offers. He flipped to Cincinnati a few weeks later and says he's still committed to them. His stock has gone way up in recent weeks. He's landed offers from schools like Clemson, Penn State, Syracuse, West Virginia, and now Miami.

He camped at UM last weekend and earned the offer. He's on his way to Florida State today for their camp. He says he actually grew up a Florida fan. Either way, Miami's very much in the game here and the offer before UF or FSU could really help in the long run. He's definitely a local prospect to keep an eye on for Miami fans.
