The Opening: Miami Preview

Nike's The Opening, where 150 of the nation's top prospects will compete this week, began today. Here's a close look at the players Miami fans should keep a close eye on this week.

WR John Burt -- At 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds, the Tallahassee Lincoln standout took an unofficial visit to Miami during his spring break. He recently named Miami in his top four, even though it'll likely be tough for the Canes to pull him out of that area.

CB Tyrek Cole -- A premier prospect from Miramar High, Cole made an early commitment to Florida State. That hasn't stopped him from making recent visits to Miami. The Canes will have to change his mind but he's certainly thinking about it.

RB Jordan Cronkrite -- One of the state's premier RB prospects, Cronkrite made a spring commitment to the Hurricanes and isn't really looking around.

WR Jovon Durante -- An early commitment to West Virginia, this Miami Norland High standout has spent some time on Miami's campus lately and is definitely still considering the Hurricanes.

CB Jaquan Johnson -- This Miami Killian standout is a premier prospect, and Miami has been the front-runner for a long time now.

CB Marcus Lewis -- Florida landed an early commitment from this Washington, DC standout. However, he recently told Scout that he plans on taking all of his visits with one being to Miami.

WR Da'vante Phillips -- A one-time Florida commitment, this Miami Central standout recently told Scout that Miami and Florida State are his top two choices now.

RB Jordan Scarlett -- A one-time FAU commitment, this St. Thomas Aquinas standout recently told Scout that he's wide open. Miami never stopped recruiting him, and appears to be in good shape at this stage of the game.

DT Tim Settle -- One of the nation's premier DT prospects, Settle recently named a top five that included Miami. He's from Virginia and it won't be easy but Miami's very much in the game right now.

RB Mark Walton -- Widely considered the top RB prospect in Miami, Walton committed to the Hurricanes very early. He was originally in the 2016 class at Booker T Washington High but recently re-classified to be a 2015 grad.

RB Dexter Williams -- This Orlando-area standout collected over 20 offers before making a commitment to the Hurricanes back in April. He's still being recruited by others and plans to take some visits so his process will be worth watching closely.
