UM dismisses two players

The University of Miami dismissed two football players from the team today.

Linebackers Alex Figueroa and Jawand Blue have been officially removed from the roster after being arrested on sexual battery charges.

Figueroa, a rising sophomore, played in eight games as a true freshman last season and finished the year with 17 tackles and one sack. He was locked in a competition with senior Thurston Armbrister for one of the starting outside linebacker spots heading into the 2014 season.

Blue, a third year sophomore, has been unable to crack the rotation at linebacker. He was competing with incoming freshman Juwon Young to be the backup to Denzel Perryman in the middle.
