DB is no longer on the roster

Third year sophomore cornerback Nate Dortch is no longer part of the team.

Nate Dortch is no longer on the team, the school confirmed today. He's been removed from the roster.

Dortch was a three-star recruit from South Fort Myers High a few years ago. A one-time North Carolina commitment under former coach Butch Davis, Dortch was offered by the Hurricanes over the summer following a strong summer camp performance. Miami was the only school he visited as a senior.

After using a redshirt his first year in 2012, Dortch played in six games as a redshirt freshman last season. Most of his action came on special teams and he saw action at cornerback in just two games. He was dealing with a foot injury for a good part of the season.

The sophomore was actually listed ahead of Corn Elder on the final spring depth chart, and was behind Tracy Howard at one of the two corner spots.

Elder will now likely join Howard, Ladarius Gunter, Artie Burns, and Antonio Crawford as part of Miami's primary cornerback rotation.
