In the state of what, you might ask? That's right, Colorado. The Hurricanes are currently recruiting at least two prospects from this state, and one of them is defensive tackle Kasey Studdard.
Studdard was measured at a mini-combine earlier this summer at 6-2 1/2 and 271. He says his 40-time there was a 4.8 on turf. He's a kid whose motor never stops running and he had an outstanding junior season. Playing tackle, he had 120 tackles and 10 sacks in 10 games. Anytime a kid gets 12 tackles a game playing defensive tackle, it's something to watch. Then throw in the fact that he's almost 6-3 and 270 and runs as well as he does, making him a legitimate major college prospect.
Your current core GPA: 2.8 right now
Your current test score: It's not available yet.
Which schools called you in May: UCLA, Southern Cal, California, Vanderbilt, Washington, Nebraska, Texas, Alabama, Colorado, Colorado State, Oregon, Missouri, Kansas, Arizona, Arizona State, Illinois, Miami, Michigan, and Michigan State. I think that's all of them.
Have any schools sent you a scholarship offer in the mail: Yes sir. Cal, Colorado, Colorado State, and Texas have offered me through the mail.
If signing day were tomorrow, what's it looking like: Oh man, I have no idea. I am totally wide open. I dont even have an idea of which schools I might visit yet.
Talk about the University of Miami: They came by the school in the spring and then I talked to them on the phone. They told me I'm one of the kids they'll be watching this season. They should start calling again next month.
Personally, I think Studdard is just enjoying being a high school senior and enjoying playing football right now. The recruiting process seems to be the last thing on his mind right now, but he is getting a lot of attention, and Miami is one of the schools recruiting him, so he's one to watch as the season gets going. Stay tuned.
