Coley updates QB situation & more

Read on to see what offensive coordinator James Coley is saying about the quarterback competition, the tight end competition, a few freshman standouts, and more.

On Tyre Brady:
Really hard worker, very talented ball catcher. He’s learning the whole operation. He’s very strong. He’s the type of kid you want. He’s a state champion. He comes to compete.

On Braxton Berrios:
It’s like he never had an ACL. He worked very hard to get back and he’s back to where he was before the injury. He’s been strong on third downs especially. We’re very impressed with him.

On Shane coaching K.C. McDermott:
Shane coaches everybody. He’s hard on his brother but Shane coaches everyone. If I see it, I don’t see it as a brother thing. I’m used to Shane coaching everybody.

On Standish Dobard’s progress:
I thought Standish. He’s edged out Beau a little bit because of his toughness. I’m not saying Beau isn’t but Stan makes it an emphasis to be physical. Beau adds more stuff to the table. There’s passion coming from both. It allows us to be flexible.

On the QB competition:
We’re sticking to the plan on how we’ll decide. We’ll let them compete. We’ll figure out who the best guy is. I’m letting them compete and I’m coaching them all. I don’t want to formulate anything too early.
