Heaps: I am fine

Jake Heaps sat out Monday's scrimmage because of elbow soreness. Read on to see what he was saying about the whole situation after Wednesday's practice.

On today’s practice:
I was able to go through it all today with no issues. That was a positive.

On missing Monday:
I definitely wanted to go. The competitor in me wanted to be out there with my teammates. We practice all this time and to scrimmage and not being out there was tough. Getting ready for game one is what it’s all about. That’s why you have coaches and trainers to make decisions for you.

On if this is a first-time thing:
This was something new that happened. I’m glad to be over it and glad to be back at practice today.

On his ability today:
I was able to make all the throws and had no issues. I’ll continue rehabbing and putting it behind me.

On seeing the scrimmage from a different perspective:
You have to take advantage of opportunities you have. Sitting out, it was good getting a different perspective on things and it helped me coming out here today.

On James Coley naming a QB:
I think all those things factor in. You have to consider all those things. I’m not the one making decisions but that’s a good thing for us so we can compete with one another, and with ourselves. We may want more points or whatever on that particular day. It helps keep camp fun.
