Golden talks a week before opener

Read on to see what head coach Al Golden is saying exactly one week before the team's season opener at Louisville.

On the punter:
Vogel had a really good day today. Kicking off, too. It comes at a good time. Tomorrow is a big special teams day. We’ll go from there.

On Taylor Gadbois:
He’s making progress. I don’t know who will be the starting five but we have a rotation. Kc, Alex Gall, Trevor Darling, they’re making progress. We’re in a better position than we were in the spring.

On Beau Sandland transferring:
Yes but let me speak to Beau first. When it comes from us, it’ll be official. I want to respect his privacy.

On the Louisville traveling squad:
Ryan Williams is a leader, for example, I’m taking Ryan. It’ll be smaller than we’re allowed, I’m sure. It’ll be determined here in the next few days.

On preparing for a Monday game:
We have Thursday night games, Mondays. We just have to be ready for the challenge. We’ll keep the kids fresh and have them ready to go. That wont be an issue for us.

On how Brad Kaaya can prepare for such a big stage:
Just keep ignoring it, keep blocking it all out. He’s mature in that sense. He’s playing to a standard right now. All he’s worried about is performing and taking care of the little things. We need the whole offense to rally around him.
