Kehoe: We'll find out soon how deep we are

Read on to see what offensive line coach Art Kehoe is saying about his unit less than a week before the team's season opener against Louisville.

On the progress of the O-Line:
I think they worked their tails off in the summer, the spring. They’ve been fully committed. Between Shane, Jon, and Flowers, our leaders, they really brought the young guys up. It’s players coaching players. They’re fun to coach.

On being 10 deep:
You don’t know if you’re ten deep until you play some games. We were just trying to line up two deep last year. We didn’t have the extra bodies. Now we got em. It’s happening all over this team. My group is a reflection of that.

On who’s competing with Taylor Gadbois at RT:
K.C. McDermott. He’s doing a good job.

On guys buying in:
I just see, it’s the fourth year with Coach Golden, each year the buy in has gotten better and better in terms of being committed to your teammates and submitting to everyone’s vision to win. We’re not at Miami Hurricane standard but we’re taking those steps. I’m excited about the first game. Our guys are playing their butts off and I know they’ll be ready.

On starting a freshman QB:
We just tell them that it could happen at any position on the team. The quarterback gets a lot more significance. Whoever is in there, support him. Be a good teammate. If you’re one of our leaders, lead him along. The last thing you need is to be negative in anyway. This guy is doing good. He deserves what he’s getting. I wish the best for him. Coach Golden got us Jake Heaps. He’s doing well. It’s a good competition and it’s what we want everywhere on our team. We want everyone competing for their job.
