On Darrion Owens:
Darrion reminds me of me when I first came in. He’s real quiet and hungry. I’m trying to show him the things the older guys taught me when I came in.
On his future:
He already has a good baseline. He’s 235 now but will get bigger and stronger.
On the defensive improvements:
It’s been a long journey. Coach D has stayed on us. He put our standard high. Everyone is progressing and we finally reached the standard.
On how it happened:
As a unit, we get together and talk about it, the cohesiveness we have now is a strong unit.
On Arkansas State:
They’re a very good team, very underrated. We just have to do what we’re taught and play our brand.
On ASU scoring two quick touchdowns:
We just gotta play the scheme, play our brand, and get them off the field. We want to get a three and out. We have to play our game.
On how he stays motivated:
My family, friends, and the fact that I’m not supposed to be here. I don’t take it for granted. I stay hungry every day. Good or bad, I try to stay the same guy every day.
On the recruiting process:
It was tough. Knowing I had talent but I couldn’t get it out there. A lot of young guys are going through that now so I’m hoping to be a good role model for them.
On what other schools told him:
I didn’t have the exposure I guess so a lot of schools really weren’t telling me anything.
