Golden addresses Olsen arrest

University of Miami backup quarterback Kevin Olsen was arrested early Monday morning. Read on to see what head coach Al Golden is saying about it.

Kevin Olsen was arrested early Monday morning and charged with DUI and possession of stolen drivers licenses.

Olsen, who has been suspended indefinitely from the team, is a redshirt freshman quarterback who missed the season opener against Louisville because of a suspension. He also missed the bowl game last year because of a suspension.

A former four-star recruit from the state of New Jersey, Olsen was competing with Jake Heaps for backup duties to starter Brad Kaaya. Head coach Al Golden addressed the situation this afternoon.

"I’m disappointed but we’re concerned about his well being and helping him through this," Golden said. "I’m disappointed from a team standpoint. I want to make sure he’s getting help that he needs and his well being is what we’re thinking about."

Golden was asked how tough it can be making sure things like this don't happen.

"You try to be consistent in your messaging and in your core values. You make sure they’re making good decisions. Hopefully he’s learning and moving forward."

Golden is confident his team will not be shaken by this news just five days before a road game against Nebraska.

"Our team is mentally tough. We have mentally tough kids."
