Senior quarterback Ryan Williams tore his ACL back in April and everyone is wondering how close he is to returning to action. Head coach Al Golden addressed that this afternoon.
"Ryan has been cleared to progress as he can," Golden said. "He looked good out there today. I don’t know (if he’ll play Saturday). We will watch the tape and see where he’s at."
The Hurricanes will practice three more times this week before boarding a plane for Nebraska. The coaches and team doctors will be closely monitoring Williams all week. Golden talked about what they want to see before giving him the green light.
"(We want to see) the ability to evade without premeditation, instinctively protect himself, and go through all the movements."
It's still unclear whether Williams will be worked back in slowly or if he'll regain the starting job upon his return. It seems unlikely that he'll return to the field this weekend but he seems to be getting real close.
