Coley returns to practice; others held out

Sophomore wide receiver Stacy Coley, who did not play against Arkansas State because of a shoulder injury suffered against Florida A&M, returned to practice today. Read on for his status for Saturday's game and to see which players were held out today.

Stacy Coley returned to practice for the Hurricanes today and head coach Al Golden is hopeful the sophomore receiver will be ready to go on Saturday.

"I don’t know if he’s 100 percent," Golden said. "He got a great workout before the game. That was good. Yesterday we gave him off and today he ran really well. We have a long way to go before Saturday night and hopefully he’ll climb into the high 90s then."

Coley has just three catches for nine yards through the first three weeks of the season so the offense will need to find create ways to get him the football when he returns to action.

Ladarius Gunter also returned to practice for the Hurricanes today and is set to be ready to go on Saturday. Starting fullback Walter Tucker saw limited action today.

"Tuck did a little bit today," Golden said. "We’ll be careful with him. X rays were negative."

Rashawn Scott, Alex Gall, and Matt Goudis were held out of practice today and their availability for Saturday remains in question.

"Rashawn, I’m not sure he’ll make it," Golden said. "We held Alex Gall today and we’ll evaluate that later today. Goudis, same as Gall, we’ll rest him and evaluate him today."

The kicking situation is a bit cloudy without Goudis and Golden is confident he'll return soon.

"He’s a competitor and he got better today. We’re excited about his opportunity."
