Q&A with Duke Johnson

Read on to see what Duke Johnson is saying a few days before the team takes on Nebraska.

On whether he watched the 01 Nebraska game:
Most likely but I don’t remember that much.

On Nebraska:
They’ve always been a great team. Regardless of things that happened in the past, now they’re a great team and it’ll be hard.

On their defense:
Their defense is good all around. Their front four is good. Number four is who we need to pay the most attention to. He’s a great pass rusher and a great player. They have a great defense and we have to prepare well this week. We have to take advantage of every opportunity we have.

On Brad Kaaya dealing with the crowd:
The only thing that matters is the other 10 he’s on the field with. We don’t worry about the crowd.

On how Kaaya has improved:
The same things – his leadership, knowing his calls and checks, and getting rid of the ball when pressure comes. He’s doing a better job of that.

On the speed UM has:
It should be a big factor. We have a lot of speed, especially on offense. Phillip Dorsett is one of the fastest guys I’ve seen in my life and we have to get him the ball.

On getting into more rhythm:
We’re not there yet. We’re not there yet. We’re trying to improve on getting into rhythm faster and staying in it. We have to be efficient and be ready to go.

On a low number of carries the last two weeks:
That’s helped. Coach didn’t want to bang me up too much before we got into the real important part of the season and now I’m ready.
