Golden: Williams could play against Nebraska

Ryan Williams has been cleared, has been practicing this week, will travel to Nebraska, and could play in the game. Read on for the latest on all that.

Ryan Williams suffered a torn ACL back in April. He's been medically cleared and has been practicing more and more leading up to Saturday's game against Nebraska.

"He was better (Wednesday) and took more reps than he ever has," head coach Al Golden said. "You go from rehab to recovery to ultimately competition. We’re no longer trying to protect him or allow him to only do certain drills. We’ll continue to evaluate him day to day. "

With the recent moving of Gray Crow back to quarterback, Williams is now one of five scholarship quarterbacks for the Hurricanes. Golden talked about whether Williams has fallen behind.

"Everyone else around him has been getting reps," he said. "He’s one of the three quarterbacks going this weekend."

Could Williams be ready to play this weekend? Golden believes so.

"We believe we could use him," he said. We’re trying to help him every day."

Some people have wondered about the possibility of a medical redshirt in case Williams is unable to go anytime soon. Golden responded to that.

"That’s a discussion we’ll have with Ryan," he said. "We just want to integrate him."
