D'Onofrio talks about improvement on defense

Read on to see what defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio is saying a couple days after his defense performed very well in a 12-point win over Duke.

On Georgia Tech’s offense:
You can never figure out their offense. We’ve had some good battles with them and they are hard to figure out. We just have to keep working, keep preparing.

On preparing for them:
It’s a tough week. What it does is it gets the players’ attention right away. It’s not the same old and that grabs their attention. We’ll see lots of different formations.

On the performance against Duke:
I’m happy for them. I wanted them to have that. I think the performance against Nebraska is not what we expected. I do think guys saw when we try doing too much those types of things can happen. I’m happy we had a better performance. Our staff combined with the leadership really helped prepare us well against Duke.

On this week in practice:
We can only do as well as our scout team’s look. We do a really good job, We have good coaches, graduate assistants, and kids on the scout team who take pride in what they do. We will try to duplicate the speed. As the week goes on there will be trials and errors but we just try giving them the best look for what they’ll see Saturday.
