On Phillip Dorsett’s season:
He’s a more skilled route runner. We knew he could take the top off and get deep and now you’re seeing his underneath routes. His leadership has been awesome. He dominated over the summer. He’s been a starter for us from wire to wire. I’m happy for him. He deserves it.
On Virginia Tech:
It’s a great opportunity. It’ll be a national audience at a great venue. We have to enjoy it and get ready for one heck of a game.
On the offensive line:
I see the most progress in the second group from last week until (Sunday). In terms of the veterans, their run blocking is much improved. It’ll get tested like crazy on Thursday. We cant give up sacks and that’s a function of protection, the quarterback not holding it, and receivers running the right routes. Jon is versatile. Ereck is playing really well. It’ll be a great test for us.
On scoring on the first drive several times this season:
Some of the second drives have been good too. We had a good one against Nebraska but then threw the interception. We have to be better on third down. The script doesn’t take you all the way down the field. Sometimes we switch it up.
On the expected crowd:
It’ll be as loud as anyone. I hope they embrace it and enjoy it. We’ve gone into some tough places and this is one of the toughest in the country. We have to be focused and execute and take care of business.
On Rashawn Scott:
He’s not going to be ready. It’s looking more and more like we will redshirt him. It’s hard to describe the injury. Initially we said 4-6 weeks but it’s just not where we want it to be.
