Herb Waters went down with what appeared to be a serious injury to the neck and head area on Saturday night. He left the field on a stretcher and was taken to a local hospital.
According to head coach Al Golden today, Waters is dealing with a strained neck and is in "great spirits."
The junior wide receiver was able to move his hands after the injury, which provided some positive hope. After clearing tests at the hospital, Waters was able to travel back with the team early Sunday morning.
"It was a scary moment for Herb," Golden said. "We all said a prayer for him and we're glad he's going to be healthy. He was able to communicate throughout the plane ride that he's fine."
It's unclear when Waters -- who has 20 catches for 277 yards and one touchdown this season -- will return to practice for the Hurricanes but there is still a possibility that he will play in the regular season finale against Pittsburgh on Saturday.
