On what is left to play for:
I just got back last night. We have a lot of good kids on this team. We just have to keep moving forward. It has the feel of a one game season. We have all the vets we’re trying to get healed up. We have 97 guys coming back so this means a lot in terms of the future.
On injury updates:
Clive will be out for the bowl game. Herb, I think, will be out. Linder has a chance to be ready. Deon looked good. We watched his reps today. We missed him down the stretch and it’s good to get him back.
On the extra practices for the young players:
They’re big. We wont get as many as some others because of our exam schedule but they’re big. It’s a great opportunity for them to improve. The coaches have to be prepared to coach them for next season.
On position changes:
Gayot was playing will today. Njoku was playing tight end. I don’t know if there were any other position changes. Those are two that will make us better. Gayot, it was a great fit. He’s 210-212, he’ll be 225 b y next year. David is closing in on 240. That will give us some depth there that we need.
On what the bowl game means:
One of the things we talked to the team about today is learning the process. We have practice, exams, and our banquet tonight. Guys will relax a bit tonight and then practice tomorrow and then exams next week. We have to do all that while preparing for an excellent South Carolina team.
On playing South Carolina:
We needed that challenge. I think they finished in the top 10 last year. This will require all our focus and energy. Today was a good start but we have a long way to go.
On how Brad Kaaya can help recruiting:
Not just Brad but the other guys in his class. There’s a lot to be excited about.
On injured players this season:
Scott did a good job. Jenkins did a lot but is still watching. They were part of the group that we missed. Both of those guys will be ready to go in the spring and we can redshirt them.
On Quan Muhammad:
Quan has to wait until January. He has 27 days.
