Dobard is ready to take over for Walford

Read on to see what tight end Standish Dobard is saying as he prepares to begin taking over for All-American Clive Walford.

On watching Duck Dynasty:
My grandfather watches it. All I know is they have beards and ducks but I don’t know much about the show.

On being from Louisiana:
I’ve been to Shreveport once. It’s a four hour drive from where I lived. It’s a nice city.

On playing South Carolina:
We’re happy to be playing against an SEC opponent because everyone says they’re the best conference. We’re excited about that opportunity.

On what Clive Walford taught him:
Playing behind Clive, I know everything now. I study everything he do. Whatever he do, I try to match it.

On Walford’s advice:
He just said to keep my head right. When things don’t go my way, keep fighting. This is my time now.

On what he’s improved most on:
I can say route-running and blocking.

On the fumble vs FSU:
When it happened, it messed me up real bad. It’s part of the game. I have to work for that not to happen.

On what his goals are:
I’m just trying to execute my role. Every time the ball comes my way, I want to score. I was trying to do too much against Florida State. I was trying to make a play and I should have just gone down.
