The Player: Rasheem Green is a defensive end prospect from Junipero Serra HS in California.
On the field: Green put his name on the recruiting map with an excellent junior season in 2013. He then continued to dominate the competition as a senior in 2014. He finished his 11-game season with 56 tackles, 23 for loss, eight sacks, and one caused fumble. He has a tremendous blend of size, strength, and quickness coming off the edge. At 6-foot-5 and nearly 300 pounds, he has the size of an interior lineman but has enough athleticism to even play as an outside linebacker. He is a big time talent.
As a Recruit: Green became a national recruit as a junior last season. He had scholarship offers from nearly every major program in America. He took official visits this season to Miami (for the Florida State game) and Oregon and plans to see USC and Arizona State in January. He says those are his four finalists. He took the Miami visit with teammate and 5-star linebacker John Houston. It won't be easy pulling him off the West Coast but the Canes have done a good job recruiting him and they're definitely still in the mix.
Bottom Line: Green is a premier player. A 5-star prospect on Scout, Green's best football should be way ahead of him. He comes from a top prep program and is the type of player who should be able to go in and make an immediate impact somewhere. He's a bigger version of Chad Thomas and he'd be an absolutely huge addition to Miami's 2015 recruiting class.
