The Trend Meter for Miami Recruits

National Signing Day is just a few weeks away. On a regular basis between now and then, CanesTime will take a look at some recent trends on some of Miami's top prospects. Read on for the absolute latest on some of Miami's most important recruits.

RB Jordan Scarlett -- The 4-star Hurricane commitment from St. Thomas Aquinas is set to take his visit to Miami this weekend. He still has two left -- Florida next weekend and then Florida State on the 30th. There was a time when Florida State was considered the main competition. Now, it's Florida. The Gators are making a serious push and now the Canes will have to keep away both in-state programs.

WR Lawrence Cager -- The Hurricanes landed a commitment from this 4-star wide receiver earlier this month when he announced in favor of Miami at the US Army All-American game. Just in the last week or so, he's scheduled an official visit to Alabama (this weekend) and landed a new offer from Auburn this morning. While he's still committed to the Canes, these new developments are going to make it tougher for Miami to keep him committed.

OL Fredrick Johnson -- A one-time Virginia Tech commitment, Johnson landed an offer from Miami in November and started strongly considering the Canes. Despite a late push from both Florida and Tennessee, Johnson continues saying the Canes lead and he's visiting here this weekend. It's likely only a matter of time before he announces a commitment to Miami.

S Shawn Burgess Becker -- One of the area's top safety prospects, Becker made an early commitment to Alabama. Miami never gave up, though, and now they're really making a strong late push. While he remains committed to Alabama, the Canes are the only other school he's even considering and Miami could get a late visit from him to make things even more interesting. It's not completely over just yet.

CB Marcus Lewis -- One of the nation's premier cornerback prospects, Lewis cut his list down last month to Miami, Kentucky, and Washington State. It was an odd final three for such a highly rated kid but Miami seemed to be in good shape all along. Now the one-time Florida commitment is getting recruited hard by Texas. He is considering adding a late visit there so this is going to make things a bit tougher for the Canes to land him down the stretch. He visits here this weekend.
