Big Recruiting Weekend at Miami

A handful of very important recruits are on campus for official visits at Miami this weekend. has the entire breakdown. Read on.

QB Evan Shirreffs -- At 6-foot-6 and 200 pounds, Shirreffs is fresh off an excellent senior season at Jefferson High in Georgia. A lightly recruited player who only started four games before his senior season, Shirreffs started being recruited by Miami last month but hasn't been offered yet. He doesn't have any FBS offers right now so a Cane offer this weekend would likely result in a commitment. He's the first quarterback to visit Miami for the 2015 class.

WR Lawrence Cager -- After making a commitment to the Canes during the US Army All-American Game early this month, Cager took an official visit to Alabama last weekend and landed an offer from Auburn. He remained committed to the Canes and has been actively recruiting other players to join him. He's on campus this weekend and he's soundly committed to Miami.

DE Shelton Johnson -- At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Johnson is one of the top pass rushers in South Florida this year. He took an official visit to Virginia Tech in December and is now in the middle of a busy January. Michigan and new coach Jim Harbaugh have been on him hard lately and he visited there last weekend. He's at Miami this weekend and is now set to see Florida State next weekend. He's been very quiet all along so it's tough to tell what he's thinking. Miami will have a great chance to convince him this weekend.

DL Richard McIntosh -- A commitment since the summer, McIntosh has not taken any other visits. At 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds, the Cardinal Gibbons standout could end up playing either end or tackle at the college level.

DT Kevin Scott -- A first year football player from the L.A. area, Scott was offered by Miami last Thursday and the coaches talked him into taking a visit here. He saw Purdue last weekend and was at USC for an unofficial visit this past Monday after they offered him a scholarship. Ole Miss and Texas are also involved but it's likely going to be tough pulling him away from USC in the end.

CB Michael Jackson -- A commitment since the summer, Jackson is a 6-foot-1 cornerback from the state of Alabama. His size and physical style of play puts you in mind of Ladarius Gunter. Despite a late season offer from Clemson, Jackson never wavered on his commitment and has not taken any other visits. He's solidly committed to the Canes.

Stay on for complete coverage and analysis of all these visits and much more throughout the weekend and into next week.
