The Player: Lawrence Cager is a wide receiver from Calvert Hall in Baltimore.
As a Prospect: At 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, Cager (Cay-jer) is a premier athlete, especially for someone his size. He has tremendous size and leaping ability. He runs really well, is very fluid in and out of his breaks. His size alone will create some mismatches and he has plus athleticism to go along with it. Those are some of the reasons why he was recruited so heavily.
On The Field: Cager turned in an excellent senior season. He caught 50 passes for 580 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior.
As a Recruit: Cager took official visits to Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and Ohio State before making a commitment to the Hurricanes at the US Army All-American Game in early January. He visited Alabama a couple weeks later but never got serious about the Tide. His Miami visit came the weekend of January 23 and that's when he re-affirmed his pledge to the Canes.
Bottom Line: Miami's coaching staff loves big receivers and they're getting a good one with Cager. It remains unclear how hard Ohio State and Alabama pushed for a commitment from him but he fills a nice need for the Canes and he should be able to compete early in his career.
