Q&A with Juwon Young

Sophomore linebacker Juwon Young is playing a major role on Miami's defense right now. Read on to see everything he's saying following the team's first spring scrimmage.

On the scrimmage:
I just did my job. I got some pass breakups, some tackles for loss. That’s minor stuff.

On the interception he tipped to Artie Burns:
I broke it up. It was (thrown to) Jake, the tight end. I set up, got my drop. The way the schemes are different now, it’s easier for me. It took me a year to get adjusted to the system.

On guys who made the most plays:
I’d say Jermaine Grace, Artie Burns, a couple of my teammates did good.

On the pass rush:
I know we had more than three sacks.

On finally being able to play full speed in the scrimmage:
It felt real good to hit people. I like to hit people so it was good. I got a nice one on Joe on the goal line.

On Stan Dobard’s long catch:
I was on the sideline then. Somebody missed a jam. A lot of people were surrounding him so I couldn’t tell who caught him.

On the improvements he’s made:
I learned a lot more from last spring and everything is coming along. I started off good and now I’m just trying to keep pace, stay on top of my game.
