On K.C. McDermott returning to practice:
He’s a competitor. His effort and preparation has been good. Having him back really helps the competition. He’s doing everything but contact.
On Rayshawn Jenkins:
I think where we’re at, Jenkins will be after spring ball. Hunter Knighton did a great job. He’s been doing all the individual drills so that was awesome to see. Patch was back, Tracy was back. Tyriq was out. We’re going to take a look at his knee.
On Corn Elder making progress:
I’d say the last three or four practices. For him to be the whole package, he has to keep getting bigger and getting stronger. He’s a finisher on the ball. He’s a competitor.
On the group of receivers:
Those guys are competing. Stacy is working really hard. Rashawn, Herb, Stan, and those guys are doing a nice job. We need some of the young guys to step up. We need guys like Langham and Brady to make a jump.
On Chris Herndon playing fullback:
He’s doing both right now. He’s explosive. He can catch the ball and block.
On Gus Edwards being the main back:
I wouldn’t say he’s the main back but he’s asserting himself. Gus and Joe are different. Gus has not been shy about being the guy. Because Gus is big, sometimes people think he’s slow and he’s not. He’s a long strider.
On Sunny Odogwu:
He just has to trust and believe, continue to being aggressive. If you make a mistake, don’t worry about it. He has to play fast. His punch is better. Sometimes he shuts down his feet in pass protection. If we get that done in these last five practices, it’ll be big.
On Dallas Crawford:
We’re asking a lot of Dallas. He is playing fast, playing with confidence. He has a swagger to him right now. He should feel good because he’s been working hard.
On the safety position:
Deon missed some practices before the break. His hamstring was bothering him a lot. Quan Johnson’s doing a great job. When Jenkins comes back, he’ll be back in the mix. There will be good competition there.
