Canes dip into Texas and offer top OL

Miami has been very active recruiting the state of Texas in recent weeks. Another offer was just made, this time to one of the state's top O-Line prospects. Read on to learn about him as a prospect and to see what Miami's chances are.

"I'm blessed to receive my 29th offer from Miami," said Chris Owens, an interior offensive line prospect from Lamar High in Arlington, TX.

Owens is a classic offensive guard. He lacks the length to play on the edge but is very thick and very powerful on the interior. He moves laterally extremely well, and really does a nice job of getting out in space and to the second level. That's a big reason why he's being recruited the way he is. He also plays at one of the top prep programs in the greater Dallas area.

Owens now has 29 scholarship offers including schools like Texas, Oklahoma, and Alabama. While it's encouraging to see the Canes getting involved in the state of Texas again, they're still coming in late compared to most of the top programs that recruit the state of Texas.

He's already taken unofficial visits to schools like Texas, Oklahoma, and TCU but has remained quiet on listing any favorites. Until he visits here, it's unclear how much interest he really has.

Despite having one of the largest 2016 commitment lists in the entire country, the Canes are still looking for their first O-Line commitment. Owens is one of several high profile prospects with offers now at the position.
