Cali QB lands Miami offer

The Hurricanes have been searching the nation for quarterback prospects and one in California was offered by Miami a few days ago. Read on to learn about him.

Tyler Lytle says the Hurricanes offered him late last week. "I'm blessed to receive my first offer to the University of Miami," he said.

At 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds, Lytle is a 2017 prospect from Servite High in Anaheim. Interestingly, he didn't even play on his varsity team this past season. He did have a strong season on the JV team but it's unclear how we'll be able to perform at the varsity level.

Watching his film you can see ideal size and some athleticism for a quarterback at his size. He has a strong enough arm that makes you believe he'll be able to put up some big numbers as a junior this coming season.

He took an unofficial visit to Miami the first part of this month and was offered a couple weeks later. He's also visited several other schools but none of them have decided to offer him a scholarship just yet. If he ends up being actively recruited by others, Miami's early offer should help position them nicely. He may, however, end up staying a lightly recruited kid until he can prove that he can play at a high level on varsity.

Lytle is one of nearly a dozen 2017 quarterback prospects who now have offers from the Hurricanes, making it clear that it's a big priority for UM in next year's class.
