Canes offer 4-star WR

The Hurricanes' search for big receivers to add into its 2016 class continues. They offered one of the best in New Jersey over the weekend. Read on to learn more about him and what Miami's chances are.

"I'm blessed to have received an offer from The University of Miami," Brad Hawkins said about his Miami offer over the weekend.

At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Hawkins is a talented outside receiver who plays at Camden High in New Jersey.

Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, and Notre Dame were some of his earlier offers so he's already being recruited like a four-star prospect and like one of the top overall prospects in the state of New Jersey.

Hawkins is fresh off an outstanding junior season. He finished the season with 255 yards and two scores rushing; 51 catches for 748 yards and 11 touchdowns; and 40 tackles and three interceptions on defense. He also returns kicks and punts, and also handles the team's kickoff duties. He literally never leaves the field, something you always like to see when evaluating prospects.

Camden High finished the season with a 9-1 record and is generally considered one of the better prep programs in New Jersey.

Hawkins has never been to Miami before so it's a little early to tell how serious he will be about this offer. The connections Miami's coaches have in that state will likely help though. He's been to Rutgers several times for unofficial visits and so they seem to have an early edge over the rest of the competition.

The Canes have a strong group of 2016 wide receiver commitments but this offer is another reason to believe they're not done yet. The coaches seem interested in adding another big receiver to the upcoming class. Hawkins is now on the board as one to watch closely.
