Canes offer 4-star OL from NJ

The Hurricanes recruit the state of New Jersey as hard as any state in the country outside Florida. They just offered their second player at one of the state’s premier prep programs. Read on to learn more about him.

“I’m extremely blessed to have received my 7th offer from THE University of Miami,” Cesar Ruiz said today. At 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds,, Ruiz plays center at Camden High. He’s capable of playing just about anywhere along the offensive front but is being recruited mostly as a center and is already being recruited like one of the region’s best in 2017 at his position.

Pittsburgh, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Arizona State are some of the schools who offered Ruiz before Miami. He’s taken a couple unofficial visits to Rutgers already and has also seen Penn State. The Scarlet Knights are doing a very good job recruiting the underclassmen at that school so there’s a good chance they will be the top competition moving forward.

There’s a good chance Ruiz will take a visit here over the summer on his own dime. Until then, it’ll be hard to tell how the Canes stack up against schools like Rutgers and Penn State.

While he’s a 2017 prospect, the Canes are still seeking their first O-Line commitment for the 2016 class. Nick Linder is expected to be Miami’s center for the next few years and Ruiz will be a key target as a potential replacement moving forward.
