Canes offer son of NFL player

The Hurricanes have been extremely active in recruiting young South Florida players this year. One of their latest offers went to the son of an NFL defensive back. Read on to learn more about him.

"Blessed To Receive An Offer From The University Of Miami Hurricanes," announced Asante Samuel, a 2018 defensive back prospect from St. Thomas Aquinas.

At 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, Samuel plays cornerback there and is expected to play a key role in their already talented secondary in the 2015 season. He started on the STA JV team as a freshman in 2014. Samuel's father, also named Asante, played at Boyd Anderson High and then UCF before having played several years in the NFL.

West Virginia, LSU, Cincinnati, Rutgers, and UCF are some of his other offers so he's already being recruited like one of the top prospects in South Florida's 2018 class. It's still early to tell what Miami's 2018 DB class will look like but Samuel is definitely a kid who will be watched closely.

UCF will be in the mix since Samuel's father played there but he grew up a Miami fan, and the Canes are in good shape in the early stages.
