Miami offers Orlando-area RB

The Hurricanes had a commitment for several months last year from Dexter Williams, a talented running back from Orlando. They're back in that area again, and just offered one of its top running back prospects. Read on to learn about him as a prospect.

"Received my 4th offer from Miami!," Trace Christian said Tuesday.

At 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, Christian is a 2017 running back prospect from Lake Brantley High near Orlando.

Christian put his name on the recruiting map with a strong sophomore season in which he carried the ball 137 times for 1,016 yards and nine touchdowns. He was the top back for one of the biggest schools in all of central Florida.

Illinois, Kentucky, and North Carolina State were his first three offers until Miami delivered number four today. All four offers have happened within the last two weeks.

Christian, who was also a district champion in the shot put this year, has ideal size already and does a nice job running between the tackles. He should continue emerging as one of the top 2017 running back prospects in central Florida.

The talented sophomore has never been to Miami so it's too early to tell how serious he'll be about the offer, and especially since he's just getting started with the whole recruiting process. Miami's early offer will definitely help down the road if he becomes a major recruit.

Miami has two running back commitments in the 2016 class and two in the 2017 class so it's definitely not a position of need. They're still going after more backs in next year's class, which means either they plan on signing three or they're not convinced that Bentavious Thompson or Robert Burns will stick by their commitment until the end.
