UM's latest offer could lead to commit soon

The Hurricanes offered one of the top defensive line prospects in south Florida on Wednesday, and it could lead to a commitment in the near future. Read on to learn about him as a prospect.

"Just Picked Up My 7Th Offer From Miami Hurricanes!!!!!!," said Jonathan Ford on Wednesday.

At 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, Ford is a 2017 defensive end prospect from Dillard High in Fort Lauderdale.

Ford put his name on the recruiting map with a strong season in 2014. He finished the year with over 40 tackles and seven sacks. While he plays defensive end now, he will likely grow into a defensive tackle by the time he starts college in a couple years.

Ford is already being recruited like one of the top defensive line prospects in South Florida for the 2017 class. Florida State, Ohio State, and North Carolina were three schools who had offered him before Miami did on Wednesday.

The standout defensive line prospect says he grew up a Miami fan and it would not surprise a lot of people if he committed to the Canes in the very near future.

Miami has a commitment from one of his defensive teammates at Dillard - 2017 LB Tyler Dunning. They're still seeking their first defensive line commitment for the 2017 class. Ford is clearly a player Miami fans need to remember.
