Canes closing in on 4th WR commit

The Canes have three wide receiver commitments in the 2016 class, and now they may be close to adding a 4th. This wide receiver was offered over the weekend. Read on to learn more about him as a prospect and to see what Miami's chances are.

Jerron Rollins says he received an offer from the Canes following a strong performance at the school's 7on7 Tournament over the weekend.

At 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Rollins is a 2016 wide receiver prospect at Columbus High.

Rollins put his name on the recruiting map with a strong junior season. He finished the season with 42 catches for 660 yards and nine touchdowns. The team's leading receiver in 2014 graduated so Rollins will be expected to put up huge numbers as the team's top receiver this fall.

He now has over a dozen scholarship offers. Some of his earlier ones came from schools like Louisville, NC State, Syracuse, and Cincinnati so he's being recruited like a 3-star.

He attended a Junior Day event at Miami, a spring practice, and was on campus with his high school team for the 7on7 tournament over the weekend. It's pretty clear he has a lot of interest in Miami, and the Canes are likely in good shape for him.

Miami already has three receiver commitments for 2016 but the only one over 6-feet is Ahmmon Richards. The Canes have offered a few more big receivers lately so it's clear they plan on signing a couple, especially since it's possible Richards could end up being better suited to play free safety at the college level. Either way, Rollins is someone Miami fans now need to watch closely.
