Canes offer 6-1 WR from Pensacola

The Hurricanes offered one of the top wide receiver prospects in Northwest Florida this week, right after another major program did. Read on to learn about him as a prospect and to see what Miami's chances are.

"Just received my 3rd offer from the University Of Miami," said Jacob Copeland earlier this week.

At 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, Copeland is a 2018 wide receiver from Pine Forest High in Pensacola.

Copeland put his name on the recruiting map with a strong freshman season in 2014. He finished the year with 17 catches for over 350 yards and two scores. Those were good for tops on his team. He also ran for nearly 200 yards and a pair of scores. Copeland does not play on defense.

Copeland was offered by Florida right before landing an offer from the Canes. He earned the Gator offer following a strong summer camp performance there over the weekend. South Alabama was his first offer. He's expected to become one of the state's top 2018 wide receiver prospects.

Miami's always had a difficult time recruiting the Pensacola area but it's encouraging they're getting in the mix very early, even though the Gators beat them to the punch.

He hasn't taken any other visits yet and hasn't named any early favorites so it's hard to tell what he's thinking about some of these early major offers.
