Canes are first to offer local WR

The Hurricanes recently made an offer to a talented young local wide receiver prospect, the first school to do so. Read on to learn about him as a prospect and to see what Miami's chances are.

"Received An Offer From The University Of Miami!," said Daquris Wiggins.

Wiggins, who goes by "Dee", is a 2018 wide receiver prospect from Miami Killian High.

The offer from Miami was his first, and likely the first of many that should be coming through soon.

At 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Wiggins is coming off a strong freshman season. He was able to carry the momentum into this offseason, and he's had some standout performances at various 7on7 tournaments in recent months.

With ideal size already, Wiggins has good body control and uses a large wingspan to provide a big target. He's able to track down most balls thrown in his general direction, which gives him a chance to create some mismatches on the outside.

It's always encouraging for Miami fans when the Canes are the first school to offer a local standout, especially because so many quality players have left town for college in recent years.

It's still very early being that Wiggins is a 2018 kid but this is encouraging news and Wiggins is someone for Miami fans to watch closely moving forward.
