Canes land a big commitment

The son of one of Miami's all-time greats announced his commitment to the Hurricanes on Monday night. Read on to learn more about it.

"Officially a Cane," Michael Irvin Jr announced on Monday evening.

At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Irvin had incredibly productive seasons the past two years while playing at Prestonwood Christian High in Texas. He finished his junior season as one of the most productive players in the entire state of Texas by grabbing 106 balls for 1,239 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Following the season Irvin moved to South Florida and has been attending St. Thomas Aquinas, where he's expected to play his senior season this fall.

Miami has been recruiting Irvin for a long time, and they were one of his first major scholarship offers two years ago. Michigan, Georgia, and Syracuse are some of his other FBS offers. He's being recruited like a high end three-star prospect.

Irvin has seen other schools, and especially with the family connection, this commitment is likely going to remain rock solid throughout the rest of the process.

Irvin is now one of 22 Hurricane commitments in the 2016 class, and one of five wide receiver commitments for Miami.
