First FSU, now Miami for Georgia DT

Florida State was first and then Miami followed up with an offer to a very talented defensive tackle prospect from the state of Georgia. Read on to learn about him as a prospect.

"Blessed to receive my second offer from The University Of Miami!," said Tru Thompson.

At 6-feet and 300 pounds, Thompson is a 2019 defensive tackle prospect from Griffin, GA. He is one of the youngest players to have ever been offered by the Hurricanes.

Thompson, who hasn't even started high school yet, took part in Florida State's camp last week and caught the attention of their coaches so much that they followed up with a scholarship offer. He then went straight to Miami for an unofficial visit to the school. The result? The Canes offered.

It's likely only a matter of time before he has offers from everyone so the Canes getting in early on can't hurt their chances down the road when he ultimately makes his college decision.

The fact that he took a visit here on his own dime indicates some early interest in the school, especially considering it's several hours further south from his hometown than Tallahassee is.

The Canes have some commitments in the 2018 class but none in the 2019 group right now. While it's still a long way from his senior season, Thompson is someone Miami fans will want to keep an eye on in the near future.
