Canes land Saturday night commitment

The Hurricanes landed a big commitment Saturday night. Read on to learn all about it.

"Blessed and honored to say that I've officially committed to the University of Miami Hurricanes!," said Jawaan Taylor.

At 6-foo-5 and 325 pounds, Taylor is a 2016 offensive guard prospect from Cocoa High. He committed following the team's scrimmage on Saturday night.

Taylor's previous offers were from schools like Cincinnati, South Florida, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, and Tulane so he was being recruited like a 3-star prospect.

Taylor attended Miami's camp in the summer of 2014, went to one of their Junior Day events earlier this year, and was on campus for the scrimmage. That means he's already been on campus a handful of times so he's very familiar with the school and the coaches so it's not like he pulled the trigger too early.

He comes from one of the state's premier prep programs so from that standpoint it's a big get for the Hurricanes. He also becomes Miami's first offensive line commitment in the 2016 class, despite being one of more than 20 players at the position who have offers.

Stay tuned for a full breakdown of Taylor's game later this weekend.
